PO-1: Conceptual and Theoretical Knowledge
Degree in Human Genetics develop a comprehensive understanding of the human genome, genetic inheritance, and associated disorders. Emphasis is placed on the integration of classical and modern concepts in Human Genetics, enabling students to build a strong foundation for further research and interdisciplinary learning.

PO-2: Technical Proficiency and Skill Development
Acquire hands-on experience and advanced laboratory skills in molecular genetics, cytogenetics, and bioinformatics. The course promotes the application of genetic testing techniques in both clinical and research settings, enhancing the learner’s competence to address real-life genetic health challenges.

PO-3: Application of Genetic Tools for Societal Benefit
Students can gain the ability to apply genetic tools for the diagnosis and management of common and complex genetic disorders. The curriculum promotes community-based initiatives such as surveys and outreach programs to raise awareness of genetic diseases and support evidence-based public health strategies.

PO-4: Analytical Thinking and Evidence-Based Outcomes
This two year Master’s programme foster critical thinking and research aptitude through data-driven analysis. Students will be able to identify high-risk populations for genetic traits, analyze primary and secondary data, and develop research questions with defined objectives and measurable outcomes in the field of Human Genetics.

PO-5: Research Design and Innovation
This course encourage scientific curiosity and innovation by enabling students to formulate independent or collaborative research projects. Students will learn to design experiments, analyze findings, and contribute to national and global genetic databases, with potential applications in diagnostics and therapeutics.

PO-6: Community Engagement and Rural Health Focus
Studying Human Genetics course promote health equity by addressing the genetic basis of diseases in underserved and rural populations. Students will engage with communities to trace hereditary disorders, provide early detection strategies, and contribute to improving public health through education and intervention.

PO-7: Ethical and Legal Awareness in Genetics
Students will develop strong professional ethics and a sense of responsibility while practicing Human Genetics. The curriculum includes training in bioethics, patient confidentiality, informed consent, non-discrimination, and legal frameworks such as the PCPNDT Act to guide responsible genetic testing and counseling.
