This course strengthens the basis for higher studies and research in the field. The course contents equip the students for qualifying NET-JRF and other exams in Philosophy. It intends to develop novelty and also renders critical, analytic, and interpretative skills among the students. As the corollary, the discipline, if studied keenly, gives one an elevated life-world.

 The objective of this course is to give an insight into the multi-faceted and all-encompassing character of Indian philosophical thought. It attempts to give the students a comprehensive and critical account of the various aspects of Classical Indian Philosophy.

 The course aims to acquaint the students with a historical and critical understanding of the philosophical conceptions, questions, and theories discussed by modern Western philosophers which have gone a long way to shape the ideological contours of the world we live in.

 This course aims to understand the genesis of philosophy among the Greeks and their multiple contributions to all aspects of philosophical thought as we know it. The course makes a chronological journey from the Greeks via the Romans to the Christian philosophers of the medieval era and ends with the various movements that brought philosophy and culture to the threshold of modernity.

 This course aims to provide the students with a broad overview of the ethical conceptions of Indian as well as Western philosophical traditions. The students are expected to comprehend through this course the broad contrasts between meta-ethical and normative ethical perspectives.
