  • This Programme also inspires the students from to actively participate in different socio-economic-cultural activities of which they have been theoretically taught in classroom situation.

A Study of Sanskrit Drama and Dramaturgy

  • Drama is an important tool for preparing students to live and work in a world i.e increasingly teams oriented rather than hierarchical. Drama also has student develop tolerance and empathy. In order to play another a role competently an actor must be able to fully inhabit another soul. Drama develops students/ actors communication skills and make them strong people. 
  • Dasarupaka is also a good poetic literature dealing way ten rupakas of which nataka is one. The salient features given in the book are important for creation of a successful literature.

Grammar and Translation

  • Vyakaran without Grammer we cannot understand any language. In order to learn Sanskrit language perfectly it is necessary to read Grammerand Grammatical Literature like laghusiddhantakoumudi, Ashtadhyayi etc.
  • Grammar has been taken a limb of the Vedas (Vedanta) because without it the meaning of the suktas and their application (viniyog) would not have been perfect.
  • Imperfect pronunciation and the wrong application of the Suktas may lead a man to the world of disaster which is called VagVajara and Apshabda etc.
  • The study of grammer leaves a man to the worlds of Moksha (Libration) as endorsed by Bhartrihari.

  • The historical development of Indian poetics which is a great treasure in India.
  • Not only historic some of the books of re historic are prescribed here to know the formulation of concerning theory of aesthetics pleasure (rasa) i.e why Kavya prakasha deserves and inclusion in the syllabi.

  • Students able to know historical development of Prose and Poetry of Sanskrit literature.

Linguistics

  • Students will be able to appreciate and develop a scientific approach to the study of languages and its structure i.e. Phonology and Phonetics, Morphology and syntax etc.
  • The course will make the learner capable of analysing the words and their meanings including somatic changes based on established linguistic theories.

Ancient Indian Palaeography and Epigraphy

  • The Student can devote them to the exploration of manuscript literature being trend in Manuscriptology.
  • Students will be successfully able to decipher and read scripts; and date inscriptions with the help of palaeographic features of the script.
  • Students will also understand the definition an importance of Palaeography, Epigraphy and Brahmi and Sharada scripts.
  • Students able to know about Ashokan Inscriptions and Sharada Inscriptions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Vedic Literature

  • The Vedic truths do well to all beings in the world. They aim at bringing about the spiritual and material uplift of everyone. Sectarianism has no place in it. The Vedas contain principles that impart peace and contentment to the whole world. It is proved that modern-day discoveries, inventions, theories, concepts are broadly based on Vedic knowledge/literature. Many scientists have studied Vedic literature to get in-depth insights into scientific, spiritual, psychological, behavioural knowledge.

 

PSSKTC 312

Dharmashastra and Arthashastra

  • Dharmasastra is the source of our modern law. It is often referred to by the advocates and judges even at the apex level. The slogan "Dharmorakshati Rakshitah" is popularly known in India and aboard. This department offers various courses from UG to doctoral level covering all the important aspects of this discipline.
  • The participant will be able to read and understand the Sanskrit text. The participant will get familiar with the methodology of Ancient Indian Administrative Science. The participant will develop a perspective to study the Sanskrit texts related to administration.

  • The knowledge of epigraphy and Paleography has to be acquired by an intensive study of numerous Published inscriptions.

  • Students will find play-writers from sudraka downwards confirming to necessary rule of Bharata.
  • Students will be able to know the story of Uttarramcharita.  They also will be able to know about the writing style  of Bhabhabhuti.

Study in KashmirShaivism

  • Kashmir Shaivism claimed to supersede Shaiva Siddhanta, a dualistic tradition which scholars consider normative tantric Shaivism. The Shaiva Siddhanta goal of becoming an ontologically distinct Shiva (through Shiva's grace) was replaced by recognizing oneself as Shiva who, in Kashmir Shaivism's monism, is the entirety of the universe. Study of Philosophical Texts

  • Indian philosophy denotes the philosophical speculations of all Indian thinkers, ancient or modern, Hindus or non-Hindus, theists or atheists. 'Indian philosophy' is supposed by some to be synonymous with 'Hindu philosophy'. This would be true only if the word 'Hindu' were taken in the geographical sense of 'Indian'. In Indian philosophy, human life is validated through four pillars Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Dharma refers to responsibility, Artha refers to success, Kama refers to fun and Moksha to freedom. Indian philosophy recognizes the fact of unity in diversity. 9. Indian conception of education and of philosophy believes in cooperation between individuals and not in mutual competition. The principle of cooperation is extended even to the animals world and the forces of nature.

  • Students are expected to learn the history of Vedic Literature. Then they will have a complete knowledge of ancient Vedic History. It will help them later on their research.  Students will be able to know the various schools of Vedic Interpretations of Eastern and Western. Then they will be able to earn the knowledge to compare and analysis of interpretations.

Jyotirvigyan and Ancient Architecture

  • Deeper knowledge of Vedic Astrology. Making general and concrete predictions through different aspects analysis. Recognizing the celestial bodies of our solar system and their relationships with the different parts of life. Recognize and explain the twelve signs of the zodiacs.
  • Course enables to understand the fundamentals of Vastu Shastra, becoming helpful for suggesting authentic VASTU solutions.

Historical Linguistics and Indo-Aryan

  • The course of Indo-Aryan Linguistics falls within the characterizing teachings of the "Indian Subcontinent" curriculum of the course "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa". The aim of the course is to provide students with a theoretical framework and reference tools enabling them to develop necessary knowledge for the study of Indo-Aryan linguistics (diachronically and synchronically) and philology.

    In particular, the course is divided in two parts. In the first part, students will be presented with fundamental concepts of the three major stages related to the evolution of Indo-Aryan languages (Old-, Middle- and New- (or Modern) Indo-Aryan), with special emphasis on the rich literature representing these diachronic stages and on the sociolinguistics of Indo-Aryan languages during the Middle Indo-Aryan period. Moreover we will pay attention to the main linguistic changes during Old-, Middle- and New- (or Modern) Indo-Aryan. In the second part of the course we will focus on the history of Hindi language and on its standardization during the 19th and 20th centuries.
