On the 8th of March, Chandrabhaga Girls Hostel, University of Jammu, hosted a grand and inspiring celebration on International Women’s Day. The event aimed at dedicating and honoring the strength, resilience, and achievements of women and was graced by the esteemed Provost Prof. Shasi Manhas, along with Dr. Skarma (Warden, PDGH), Dr. Chinmoyee (Warden, SNGH and NGH) Dr. Sushma (Resident Warden, SNGH), Dr. Sonia (Resident Warden, CBGH), Dr Bhagvati (Resident Warden, PDGH), Dr Radhika (Resident Warden, NGH) and office assistants from all girls’ hostels, including hostel employees.

The celebration commenced with an inspiring speech by the Provost Girls’ Hostel, Prof. Shashi Manhas, who spoke passionately about the role of women in society and their immense contributions. She emphasized the importance of self-belief, education, and resilience in shaping a progressive future. Her words were not only inspiring but also served as a call to action for young women to embrace their strengths and follow the time-tested good practices, values, and ethics, balancing the emerging culture, technology, and our traditional strengths and striving for excellence in every aspect of life.

Adding to the warmth of the occasion, Dr. Sonia, r/Warden CBGH, extended a heartfelt welcome, acknowledging the presence of everyone and setting a tone of encouragement and unity. Her kind words and humble gestures made the gathering even more special, fostering an environment of mutual respect and appreciation.

Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Warden SNGH and NGH, shared words of encouragement, expressing deep appreciation for the determination and perseverance of women. She emphasized how every woman, regardless of her background, has the power to create change and inspire others. One of the most touching moments of the celebration was when Dr. Bhagvati, r/Warden PDGH, recited a few poetic lines devoted to the essence of womanhood.
