Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies University of Jammu organised a three day Story Telling Workshop “Walking with Gandhi : From Mohan To Mahatma” in collaboration with The Law School University of Jammu and Gandhi Research Foundation Jalgaon , Maharashtra.
The workshop revolved around the character of Mahama Gandhi as a persona and a role model who is celebrated across the globe because of his insistence on the values of truth, honesty, Non violence and simplicity. Prof. Sudarshan Iyengar, former Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith and a noted Gandhian was the resourceperson for the workshop.
Prof. Sudarshan Iyengar used the basic book written by Mahatma Gandhi - An Autobiography: My Experiments with Truth as the foundation for revisiting and understanding Gandhiji.
Using the example of Gandhi, Students learnt the importance of the basic values of humanity like, truth, honesty, compassion and commitment in one's life. Besides this, need for constant self-introspection, self-regulation and self-correction especially in the contemporary era of consumerism was also highlighted. The workshop was conducted in a participative and interactive manner wherein the students were encouraged to express their views without any hesitation.
In the valedictory session experience sharing was done wherein the students expressed their satisfaction in understanding important events and turning points in the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Inspired by the workshop, the students resolved to take active part in the social work and work for the welfare of the weaker section of the society. They also resolved to make an attempt in practising the basic humanitarian values of Mahatma Gandhi in their lives. Experience sharing was followed by the distribution of the certificates.

Iyengar for making the value addition to the life of young students through the conduct of the workshop. In all thirty six students attended the workshop.
