Induction Programme concluded at Kathua Campus (JU)

The three-day Student Induction Programme for the newly inducted students of BCA (Data Science), BBA, B.A. English, MCA and MBA programmes at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu concluded with a blended of orientation, NCC awareness, club introduction, co-curricular engagement and recreational activities, providing the students with a holistic introduction to campus life.
On the occasion, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, in his message, appreciated the successful conduct of the three-day induction programme and congratulated the faculty members and coordinators for organising a diverse range of activities for the newly admitted students. He also urged the students to make the best use of the opportunities available at the campus and develop qualities of discipline, leadership, creativity and social responsibility.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Convener of the Student Induction Programme said that the three-day programme was designed to provide the newly admitted students with a comprehensive introduction to university life and to help them become familiar with the academic, co-curricular and institutional environment of the campus.
The programme began with an introduction to the various clubs and student activities by Er. Ritika Gupta, Assistant Professor, Management and Dr. Meenakshi Thakur, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who apprised the newly admitted students of the diverse opportunities available to them for participation beyond the classroom.
A special NCC awareness lecture was delivered by Lt. Amit Sharma, ANO and Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, who provided students with detailed information about NCC activities, its objectives and the opportunities it offers for developing discipline, leadership, teamwork and a spirit of service.
The students were also introduced to the activities of the NCC Girls Wing. Ms Zanbi and Ms Anshika, students of B.A. English, shared their experiences and explained various NCC activities, thereby motivating the newly inducted students, particularly girls, to consider joining the organisation.
The day also featured a sports event which added an element of participation and enthusiasm among the students. The Table Tennis competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls. In the girls’ category, Riya Verma (3rd Semester, MCA) emerged as the winner, while Abhilasha Gupta (3rd Semester, MCA) secured the runner-up position. In the boys’ category, Vansh Jangotra (1st Semester, MBA) won the competition, while Akhilesh Goswami (1st Semester, BBA) was declared runner-up.
The Carrom Board competition also witnessed keen participation. Shreya (1st Semester, MBA) emerged as the winner, while Yuvraj Sharma (1st Semester, BCA) secured the runner-up position. In the Chess competition, Ankit Singh (1st Semester, MCA) emerged victorious, while Akhilesh Goswami (1st Semester, BBA) secured the runner-up position.
The competitions provided students with an opportunity to interact with one another in a healthy and friendly environment while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and a sense of camaraderie.
Ms Manya Mahajan, a student of Management School, coordinated the overall programme.
Faculty members including Dr. Rajani Sarangal, Dr. Nomita Sharma, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Princee Verma, Dr. Ritu Sharma, Dr. Reemani Verma, and Dr. Nisha Choudhary were also present during the induction programme and encouraged the students through their participation and guidance.
