JU's Bhaderwah Campus organises “Induction Programme for Freshers”

Bhaderwah, August 6: The Bhaderwah Campus of the University of Jammu
organised a comprehensive Induction Programme to warmly welcome the
newly admitted students of the School of Management, Department of
Computer Science & IT, Department of English, Department of Geography,
and the Institute of Mountain Environment & Economics. The programme
aimed to familiarise the freshers with the academic environment,
campus facilities, institutional values, and the opportunities
available for their academic and personal growth.

In his message, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, Prof. Rahul Gupta extended a
warm welcome to the newly admitted students and congratulated them on
becoming part of the University of Jammu family. He encouraged them to
make the best use of the campus's academic resources, experienced
faculty, research facilities, and extracurricular opportunities.
Emphasising the values of discipline, integrity, innovation, and
social responsibility, he assured the students that Bhaderwah Campus
is committed to providing a vibrant learning environment that nurtures
excellence and holistic development.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Subash Chander, Department of English,
congratulated the students on the beginning of a new academic journey
and encouraged them to develop the habits of reading, critical
thinking, effective communication, and lifelong learning while
actively participating in academic and co-curricular activities.

Dr. Shayan Javed, Head, Institute of Mountain Environment & Economics,
highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the Institute and urged
students to engage in research and field-based learning to address
environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in the
Himalayan region. Welcoming the freshers, Dr. Ashok Sharma, I/C Head,
Department of Computer Science & IT, motivated students to stay
abreast of emerging technologies and strengthen their practical skills
alongside theoretical knowledge.

Dr. Umesh Choudhary, I/C Head, School of Management, emphasised the
importance of leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and
industry exposure in shaping successful careers. Dr. Chhering Tandup,
I/C Head, Department of Geography, acquainted the students with the
scope of geographical studies and encouraged them to undertake
fieldwork and research to better understand environmental and societal
challenges.Dr. Rohit Bhagat, I/C Placement, briefed the students about
the Campus Placement Cell and urged them to focus on communication,
technical competence, personality development, and employability
skills from the very beginning of their academic journey.

The welcome address was delivered by Arif Haleem Khateeb, External
Relations Officer, Bhaderwah Campus, who also conducted the
proceedings of the programme. He welcomed the freshers and expressed
gratitude to Prof. Rahul Gupta, Rector, for organising a meaningful
and student-centric induction programme that introduced the new
entrants to the academic culture and opportunities available at the
campus.

Several freshers also shared their experiences and expressed happiness
at joining Bhaderwah Campus. They appreciated the warm reception
extended by the faculty and staff and expressed confidence that the
campus would provide them with a rewarding academic experience.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Mohammad
Avais, who thanked the Rector, faculty members, staff, and students
for their enthusiastic participation in making the event a grand
success.
