Abhiyan (NMBA) against Drug-Abuse in Reasi town
In compliance to the directions from the Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Departrnent,
Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir under implementation of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA),
and under the guidance of Director Reasi Campus, Prof. Sushil K. Pandey, Reasi Campus,
University of Jammu successfully organized an Awareness Campaign (Rally) under Nasha
Mukht Bharat Abhiyan against Drug-Abuse on 23.04.2026 in Reasi town. The starting point of
the rally was the main gate of DIET campus at 10:30 a.m. and culminated at 12:00 p.m. near the
General Zorawar Singh Statue, Main market, Reasi. Prior to this Abhiyan Reasi Campus has also
organized pledge taking ceremony and poster making competition on 21.04.2026 and the posters
has been displayed on the walls of Academic Block in the Campus under Nasha Mukht Bharat
Abhiyan. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of MA Sociology 2nd and
4th Semesters, faculty members and other staff members, reflecting a strong commitment
towards social responsibility and public welfare with the objective of spreading the message of a
drug-free society and motivating youth to stay away from substance abuse. During the rally,
students appealed to society through banners, placards, and slogans against drug addiction and
especially to young people, to channel their energy into education, sports, and constructive
activities rather than harmful habits. They also highlighted that drug abuse not only affects
individuals but also damages families and the wider community. The rally culminated at Zorawar
Singh Chowk, where the participants emphasized the need for continuous awareness campaigns,
counselling, and community support. This campaign is also a part of the Viksit Bharat Abhiyan
to make the country free from all kinds of the Drug-Abuse. They reiterated that such initiatives
play an important role in building a healthier, safer, and stronger nation in line with the vision of
the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The event was organised by Dr. Nisha Sharma, Dr. Pankaj,
Dr. Ravi Kumar, Ms. Nedhi Thakur, Mr. Babloo Salaria and Mr. Sandeep Sharma.
