UIET, Kathua Campus(JU), celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 6 March 2026 at UIET, Kathua Campus. The program was organised in collaboration with the District Administration and Social Welfare Department, Kathua, under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Varun Kumar Choudhary (JKAS) to honour the strength, achievements, and contributions of women in society.

The program witnessed the gracious presence of Rector/Co-ordinator, UIET, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, In-Charge Principal, UIET, Dr. Rockey Gupta, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students of the institution. Ms Muskan Kesar and Ms Jyoti Gupta from the Social Welfare Department, Kathua, were the resource persons for the program. Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Rajani Sarangal, Head, Department of Management, Kathua Campus, and Ms Shamli Jasrotia, Accounts Officer, UIET.

In his address, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia emphasized the need to create an inclusive environment where women can lead, innovate, and inspire. He remarked that educational institutions play a crucial role in nurturing confidence and leadership among young women.

Dr. Rockey Gupta, while addressing the gathering, encouraged students to uphold the values of equality and respect. He stated that empowering women ultimately strengthens families, communities, and the nation.

Ms Muskan Kesar and Ms Jyoti Gupta highlighted the importance of promoting equality, dignity, and empowerment for women through education and collective action.

Dr. Rajani Sarangal and Ms Shamli Jasrotia, in their respective speeches, appreciated the initiative taken by the institution to celebrate and recognise women’s contributions in society, education, families, and workplaces.

The celebration featured vibrant student performances, including cultural presentations that reflected the spirit of empowerment and appreciation for women’s achievements. The performances were warmly applauded by the audience and added a festive spirit to the occasion.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Nisha Choudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, UIET. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Reemani Verma, Assistant Professor, Communication Skills, UIET, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organisers, faculty, staff, and students for their active participation and support in making the celebration successful.

The program ended on a positive note, reinforcing the collective commitment of the institution towards promoting equality, dignity, and empowerment for all women.
