Employability and Professional Competence-Focused Student Seminar at University of Jammu

Jammu, February 26: The Business School, University of Jammu, organized a two-day student seminar on “Advanced MS-Excel” for its MBA 4th Semester students from February 25–26, 2026. The initiative was undertaken to strengthen students’ analytical and data-handling skills, which are essential in today’s competitive corporate environment. As businesses increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making, proficiency in advanced Excel has become a critical, high-demand skill across all domains of an organization.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Amisha Gupta, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu. She highlighted the importance of adopting a pragmatic approach to education in order to equip students with essential industry-relevant skills.
Prof. Alka Sharma, Dean Business Studies, University of Jammu, appreciated the efforts of the Director, TBS, for organizing such skill-development initiatives to ensure that MBA graduates are industry-ready and equipped with contemporary managerial tools.
Dr. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, University of Jammu, served as the resource person for the two-day seminar, along with Mr. Ankush Kumar and Mr. Deepu Tiwari, Research Scholars from the Department of Statistics.
On the first day, the resource persons delivered insightful hands-on sessions focusing on advanced Excel tools such as advanced formulas, functions, and data analysis techniques. The second day focused on data transformation, data visualization, and dashboard creation. The seminar was specifically tailored for students seeking to gain a competitive edge in the job market by offering practical exposure to tools that significantly enhance workplace productivity and data visualization capabilities.
Students actively participated in the sessions, displayed keen interest throughout the seminar, and benefited from practical exposure to advanced spreadsheet techniques that will further enhance their employability and professional competence.
