University of Jammu, Organises Extension Lecture on “Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writings”

The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, organised an offline extension lecture on the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writings” on 26th February 2026 in the Department of Library Science. Prof. Sangita Gupta(HOD) introduced the distinguished speaker Dr. Rosy Jan, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kashmir. Dr. Jan delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in scholarly and academic writing. She elaborated on the responsible and ethical use of AI tools in research and highlighted concerns related to plagiarism and the retraction of research articles due to academic misconduct.

During her lecture, Dr. Jan also discussed the effective use of Google Scholar for citation tracking, research visibility, and measuring scholarly impact. She guided students and research scholars on maintaining academic integrity while utilizing emerging technologies in research. The session was highly informative and interactive, followed by a brief question-and-answer session where students and scholars actively engaged with the speaker. All students and research scholars of the Department attended the lecture and benefitted from the expert insights shared during the session.
