Music, fine arts, and theatrical competitions were conducted on the second day of ‘Display Your Talent-2024’ at MIER College of Education. Dr. Shashi Prabha and Dr. Ashwin Kushwah, JU, Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College, along with the Judges, dignitaries, and teachers in-charge, felicitated the winners. Prof. Monika Chadha Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee and Prof. Sarika Manhas Co- Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee were also present at the prize distribution function.
In the Painting competition, students were given two topics: 'Colours of Nature’ and ‘Youth Vibes.’ Shalini Sharma, GDC Akhnoor, clinched the first prize; the second prize was bagged by Shazad Ahmad, IMFA; and Bharti Verma, IMFA, came in third. The first, second, and third consolation prizes were given to Sanampreet Kour, Department of Psychology, JU; DeepUday, The Law College, JU; and Sonakshi Gupta, MIER College of Education.
In Rangoli, two themes were given to the students: ‘Geometric Grace’ and ‘Cultural Fusion.’ The first, second, and third prizes were given to Kashish, GDC Marh, Guleen, IMFA, and Monika Chauhan, IMFA. Chaman Lal, IMFA, Arpana, GDC Bishna, and Neha, GDC Akhnoor bagged the first, second, and third consolation prizes.
In clay modelling, students were given two themes: ‘Urbanization’ and ‘Village Life.’ The first prize was awarded to Shivam Gupta, the second to Mehak, GDC Akhnoor, and the third to Palvi, GDC Akhnoor. Two certificates of merit were awarded to Jasdeep Singh, IMFA, and Aditi Verma, Department of Psychology, JU.
In the Western Vocal Solo competition, first prize was bagged by Kunwar Langer, The Law School, JU; second prize was clinched by Mehak Akhter, Department of Sociology, JU; and third prize was given to Ritisha Manhas, GCW Parade. The first, second, and third consolation prizes were given to Taviish Bhattacharjee, Department of Psychology, JU; Tahira Shamim, IMFA; and Nuzhat, GCW Parade.
In Western Instrumental Solo, the first prize was clinched by Aarav Nagotra, IMFA, and the second prize was bagged by Sahil, GDC Marh.
In the Skit event, the first prize was given to the team from PG Integrated, JU, and second and third prizes was clinched by the Department of Commerce, JU and GCW Parade. The consolation prize was given to DDE, JU.
In the One Act Play competition, GCW Parade secured the first position, followed by the team from PG Integrated, University of Jammu, in second place. The third position was awarded to the Centre for Distance and Online Education.
In the Mehandi competition, on the themes ‘Heritage’ and ‘Nature', Enamika Sharma from the Department of Psychology, JU, won the first prize, Gurleen Kour from GCW Bhagwati Nagar secured the second prize, and Meenakshi from the Department of Psychology, JU, took third place. Certificates of merit were awarded to Preeti Mahnas (IMFA), Ashmeet Kour (IMFA), and Archna Dubey (MIER).
Judges for today’s events were, Elocution, Prof. Posh Charak, Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma. Fine Arts, Ms. Reecha Gupta, Ms Mansi Rattan, Mr. Ankush & Mr. Kaneesh. Theatre, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan & Sh. Vijay Malla. Western Singing, Sh. Jagmeet Singh, Mr. Anish Mattoo.
