The Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Dhanvantri Library, and Translation Club, University of Jammu, under the auspices of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) Jammu, celebrated Hindi Diwas today with literary discussions and symposium.
The celebration featured a panel discussion that brought together eminent scholars and faculty members, including Prof. Sham Narayan Lal from the History Department, Prof. Dushyant Kumar Rai from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Dr. Shruti Awasti, Regional Director of IGNCA, and Dr. Vikram Sahi, Incharge Librarian at the University of Jammu.
The panelists engaged in an in-depth discussions on the literary contributions of renowned Hindi authors such as Bhartendu Harishchandra, Jaishankar Prasad, Mahadevi Verma, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, and HSV Agyeya.
Earlier in the day, a symposium was held for students from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies and the Department of English.
14 students participated, sharing their insights on the works of iconic Hindi writers, including Premchand, Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, Bhawani Prasad Mishra, and Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Aryan, a first-semester student from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, was awarded first place for his presentation. Suhani Gupta and Sakshi Shawney secured second and third places, respectively.
The event was smoothly managed by Swati, while Dr. Vikram Sahi extended a formal vote of thanks to the attendees.
Others present on the occasion included, Dr Anita Sachar, Dr Kusum Sharma, Dr Neelam , Dr Ashwin Kushwaha, Dr Pardeep Singh Bali, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Ms Kumerjit Chajgotra, Ms Deepika, Ms Diksha and Ms Garima Singh, research Scholar.
