The SIIEDC, University of Jammu, in collaboration with IIT Bombay, successfully organized a Principals Meet and Workshop on e-Yantra on November 23, 2023. The event took place in the seminar hall of the Department of Botany at the University of Jammu.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, delivered his presidential remarks, highlighting the significance of Prof. Kavi Arya's visit and the establishment of 25 e-Yantra labs in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He encouraged the principals and other attendees to actively contribute to the effective implementation of NEP 2020.
Prof. Kavi Arya, IIT, Bombay interacted with the principals, emphasizing the importance of establishing e-Yantra labs in various colleges of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed the transformative impact these labs would have, providing students with entrepreneurial experiences and better job placement opportunities.
Earlier, the inaugural session commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Alka Sharma, Director of SIIEDC. Dr. Sadaf Shah, Associate Professor in the Department of English, introduced the principals to the newly launched innovative four-year undergraduate program called "Design Your Degree." She emphasized the need for this program, its objectives, structure, and outcomes, which align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program aims to bridge the gap between academia and the real world by focusing on skill development, a crucial requirement of the 21st century.
It is pertinent to mention here that the team from IIT Bombay will be interacting with the principals of various colleges and faculty members of various Universities during the workshop on November 24th and 25th. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shalu Sehgal.
