It becomes a memorable and gratifying moment when one’s nation attains triumph because of the endless efforts put forth by its citizens. Such a joyous and serene day was 23rd of August 2023 for our country when “CHANDRAYAAN 3”, the third lunar exploration mission by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully landed on the Moon surface. To jubilate this victory, Teaching, non-teaching staff, Research scholars and students of the Department of Physics, of University of Jammu organised a small event to celebrate the proud success of the country in the field of space exploration. The event was organized in the Previous Lecture Hall of the department and was titled as “A JOURNEY FROM CYCLE TO MOON”.

A feeling of thrill and triumph was among the gathering on the culmination of the Chanderyan IIImission, marking a historic milestone in the realm of lunar exploration. This remarkable achievement underscores the dedication, innovation, and collaborative spirit of the scientific and engineering communities that have propelled humanity's reach into the cosmos. To celebrate the occasion the event began with the cordial congratulations by Prof. Arun Bharti, Head of Department of Physics. He apprised the gathering about the importance of this proud moment when our country’s scientists have created a history by having successful landing of the Chanderyaan-3 on the south pole of the Moon and that too via soft landing. This was followed by presentation of remarks and views by first year PG students of the department Ms. Shivani Rasgotra, Ms. Kavita and Ms. Pallavi. To this small get together and joyous occasion the faculty members also addressed. Whereas Prof. Naresh Padha congratulated everyone, Prof. K.K Bamzai highlighted the fact that our country is becoming more confident and technologically advanced at par with many developed nations. Prof. Ramni Gupta emphasized that at this proud moment the students should learn an important lesson that they should not get disheartened by mistakes and failures and neither should brood on the past. Rather it's always a great beginning towards success the day one decides to work for one’s goal. Prof. Rajnikant the Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu and one of the senior professors in the Department of Physics told not to take baby steps while working to attain a desired targets. The present among others included Dr. Sandeep Araya, Er. Sanjay Mahajan, Technical and non-Technical staff. Light refreshments were served to everyone present. The event concluded with a feeling of pride and delight on everyone’s face.
