University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated Independence Day under the newly launched campaign of the Government of India "Meri Maati Mera Desh- Mitti ko Naman Veeron ko Vandan". The campus was alive with patriotic spirit as students, faculty, and staff joined hands to celebrate 77th Independence Day of India with fervor and enthusiasm. The day was a heartwarming tribute to the valor and sacrifices of our brave soldiers and it reminded everyone of the unwavering dedication and sacrifice of those who fought for the nation's freedom.
The day began with a vibrant Tiranga Rally under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, (JU) which commenced from the Navgrah Vatika, UIET and culminated at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Kathua. This symbolic gesture paid homage to the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and cherishing the nation's hard-fought freedom. Later the celebrations were followed by captivating cultural performances that showcased the rich and diverse tapestry of India's cultural heritage.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu congratulated everyone on the 77th Independence Day celebrations and emphasized the importance of education, innovation, and responsibility in building a prosperous and harmonious India. She said that students should be encouraged to channel their energies towards constructive contributions for the nation's progress. She further added that Kathua Campus demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the country by organizing the event that encapsulated the essence of India's independence struggle. She then stressed that the institution remains committed to nurturing young minds that are not only equipped with technical skills but are also imbued with a deep sense of civic duty and national pride.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Coordinator, UIET expressed his gratitude to everyone for becoming part of 77th Independence Day celebrations. He said that the whole event was a resounding success filled with the essence of patriotism, unity, and cultural diversity.
Retired Subedar Sh. Avtar Singh in his address made all to remember their responsibilities that come with the privilege of freedom.
Dr. Shivani Sharma administered the pledge where as Dr. Nisha Choudhary coordinated the whole programme and Er. Sushant Gagal delivered vote of thanks. The teaching and non-teaching staff of Kathua Campus were also present during the programme.
