Department of Lifelong Learning in collaboration with Department of Commerce, University of Jammu today inaugurated 10-days workshop on “Promotion of Art and Craft” in the premise of ved mandir as per the vision of the Honourable Vice Chancellor , University of Jammu.
The workshop was inaugurated by Secretary, Ved Mandir Committee, Sh. Nagar Mal Gupta. In his inaugural speech he appreciated the efforts of Department of Lifelong Learning and Department of Commerce, University of Jammu for organising such kinds of skill based workshops for the needy and poor students of the school. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, H.O.D Department of Commerce and Director DLL, University of Jammu. The main objective of the workshop was to enable the students to learn basic skills so that they can become financially independent. The main themes of the workshop were Deco Page, Lipon Art, Waste Material Management, Clay Modeling, Decoration of Diyas and Thalis etc.
The special resource persons of the workshop were Smt. Sanjogita Dogra, founder, Budha Art and Paintings and Mrs. Rekha Gupta. Smt. Sanjogita Dogra provided the required counselling to the participants and advised them to become job provider rather than job seekers.
The workshop was financially sponsored by Department of Commerce, University of Jammu. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Department of Lifelong Learning and Dr. Tarsem Lal, Associate Professor and Incharge Extension and Outreach Activities of Department of Commerce, University of Jammu. They assured the management of the Ved Mandir to provide all types of support and guidance in the future also.
About 15 girls of Balika Bhawan, Ved Mandir very enthusiastically participated in the inaugural function of the workshop.
