The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a Motivational Lecture ‘Towards a better Society’ by Prof Achyuta Samanta, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Educationist, Philanthropist, Founder, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) for students and scholars of University of Jammu. Prof. Rajni Kant, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu presided over the function.
In his address, Prof. Samanta compassionately underlined that one must be good to oneself and start valuing his/her own self, then only one can be in a better position to contribute to the best of abilities. He further added that it is equally important that we should focus on self-acceptance. He further said that his life is a classic example which again emphasizes that a person with a humble background but a missionary zeal to acquire an education can reach to the pinnacle of success. He has been working relentlessly for Zero Poverty, Zero Hunger and Zero Illiteracy. He is the founder of the Art of Giving concept, which he has launched officially in 30 countries and in more than 210 places in India. For him, education is the key to self-liberation and higher enlightenment.
In his remarks, Prof. Rajni Kant, endorsing the thoughts of Prof. Samanta, emphasized that education empowers, enables and enlightens us, thus creating a better society and we all should work for it. He urged young minds to kindle the thrust for consistent learning and use it for the betterment of society.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare expressed gladness over having such a dynamic personality to address and inspire the youth of Jammu. He shared that the Department of Students Welfare is always keen to organize such programmes which are for the larger benefit of the students, stakeholders and society.
Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, while introducing the speaker said that Prof Achutya is a visionary, an iconic educationist, an epitome of humanism and an inspirational speaker who has devoted his life to the marginalized.
