Achievements

Since 1965, the Department of English has been the epitome of Excellence offering job-oriented programmes and turning out students with over 90 percent job -placement opportunities. 

The Students of our Department have been participating actively in inter University competitions, like debates, histrionics, seminars, workshops, educational tours, sports, NSS and other youth welfare programmes and have earned distinctions in Display Your Talent Contests. The students of the Department have been regularly qualifying the UGC-NET and SET examinations. Many of them have also been awarded the UGC JRF and SRF, Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship and Maulana Azad Fellowship. Research scholars participate in National and International Conferences on a regular basis and some of them have been given the award of the best paper. Their research articles are being published in National and International Journals.

The Department has had a vibrant Research Environment and has produced about 80 PhDs and 150 MPhils. The Faculty and the scholars are very active in publishing their research works. The department also produced Mrs. India, Voice of Punjab, officers in administrative services and successful entrepreneurs.
