Achievements

Since 1965, the Department of Urdu has been the epitome of Excellence offering job-oriented programmes and turning out students with over 90 percent job -placement opportunities. 

In the field of teaching and research the department has established itself at national level as the department has produced more than 88 NET/ JRF students. This is actually the outcome of the major revision of course done in 2007- national level courses. The department has not compromised with these courses even during CBCS adaptation- the department accepted to increase the number of credits -104. The department is also publishing a half yearly literary research and UGC care Listed Journal “ Tasalsul” from 1998. The department of Urdu has the honor to give educational administrative to the university system like Registrar, Controller of Examination, Dean of the faculty, Member of The university council , academic advisor to the vice chancellor and Director offsite campuses.

The Department has a commendable track record of nurturing and producing a substantial number of Assistant Professors and Lecturers. These educators play pivotal roles within the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department (JKHED), significantly contributing to the advancement  of Urdu language and literature throughout the region. Their expertise and dedication have greatly enriched the academic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from that the department had produced a remarkable array of poets and authors. Many of these talented individuals have made significant contributions to Indian cinema, enriching the industry with their literary and artistic skills. 

The department of Urdu has been trying to be on the path of academic excellence in future also.
