Programme Outcome (POs) for MA Urdu

The Department offer's Master Degree in Urdu consisting of 28 Courses. The Programme is designed to produce postgraduates with a comprehensive understanding and mastery of the Urdu language and its rich literary heritage. Students will achieve advanced proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Urdu fluently and accurately, demonstrating their ability to apply complex grammatical and syntactical structures in various contexts. They will gain an in-depth knowledge of major works, authors, and movements in Urdu literature from classical to modern times, and will be capable of analyzing and interpreting literary texts with a deep understanding of their themes, styles, and cultural significance.

Through rigorous training in critical thinking, students will learn to evaluate and critique Urdu literary works, synthesizing diverse critical perspectives and applying appropriate literary theories to their analysis.

Students will have a strong awareness of the historical, cultural, and social contexts that have shaped Urdu literature, appreciating the intercultural connections between Urdu and other literary traditions, especially within the South Asian context. They will also shape their creative expression by producing original works of literature in Urdu, including poetry, fiction, and drama, developing a unique voice and style that reflects their deep engagement with Urdu literary traditions.

Additionally, they will acquire translation and interpretation skills, translating texts between Urdu and other languages with high accuracy and conveying the nuances of Urdu texts to broader audiences.

Digital literacy will be emphasized, with students learning to utilize digital tools and technologies to study, preserve, and circulate Urdu literature. They will engage with digital archiving of Urdu literary works.

Finally, the programme prepares students for professional careers in academia, media, publishing, translation, and other fields requiring expertise in Urdu. They will develop skills in professional writing, editing, and communication etc. The programme will help the students to became poets, writer, columnist, Artist etc.
