The University of Jammu, through its Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), inaugurated a Two-week national-level online Refresher Course in Commerce and Management on November 18, 2024. Titled “Emerging
Paradigms in Business Education,” the course slated for two weeks will end on November 30, 2024, bringing together educators from across India to explore new trends and critical skills in business education.The inaugural session was addressed by Prof. S.K. Pandita, Director MMTTC, University of Jammu, who in his opening remarks stressed the need for continuous professional development in business education, given the rapidly shifting dynamics of global business practices. He also highlighted the growing importance of technology integration, sustainability, and ethical standards,which are essential for educators to keep pace with evolving academic and industry demands. Prof. Pandita emphasized that courses like this help shape a new generation of leaders capable of navigating complex and rapidly transforming educational environments. Prof. Gurjeet Kaur, Course Coordinator, provided an outline of the course, expressing confidence that participants would benefit from the rich programme and the expertise of renowned faculty. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Course Deputy Coordinator, presented formal vote of thanks.
The course schedule features an array of daily sessions, covering critical areas in business education led by prominent experts. The first day began with an insightful session on “Research Methodology in Business Education” by Prof. R.D. Sharma, Former Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu, who underscored the importance of structured research in advancing educational quality. Following this, Prof. Ashok Aima, Former Vice-Chancellor Central University of Jammu, delivered a lecture on “Academic Leadership and Institution Building,” sharing essential strategies for effective leadership in academic settings.Upcoming sessions in the course promise an immersive learning experience, with Dr. P. Murugan presenting on “Generative AI for Business Education” and “Open Educational Resources (OERs)”. These sessions will provide participants with knowledge on integrating digital resources and AI into curriculum design. Prof.
Mehraj-ud-Din will discuss “Total Quality Management (TQM) in Business Education,” followed by Prof. Manjit Singh, who will lead a session on “Participant-Centered Learning,” demonstrating engaging teaching methodologies that prioritize student engagement.
The course also includes sessions on advanced research and conceptual frameworks. Dr. Neeraj Kaushik will lead an in-depth session on “Developing Conceptual Models Using ISM,” providing participants with analytical tools for designing effective research models. Prof. R.K. Singh’s presentation on “AI in Education” will address the application of artificial intelligence in enhancing educational access and effectiveness. The programme dedicates sessions to research ethics and academic publishing, with Prof. Sumit Narula covering “Targeting Quality Journals” and Prof. Nishtha Malik addressing the topic of “Upholding Ethics in Research.” These discussions will guide participants on best practices for publishing impactful, ethical research.
Additionally, Prof. Vijay Shrotriya’s session on “GDP, Organizations, and Happiness” will delve into the connections between economic well-being, organizational practices, and employee happiness, offering a fresh perspective on the importance of well-being in the workplace.The final days of the course will include sessions on emerging and sustainable practices in business and education. Prof. S.C. Das will explore “Scale Development and Validation for Green Human Resource Management (GHRM),” and Prof. Baldev Setia will discuss “Education in the 21 st Century.” Prof. Kavita Sharma will deliver a lecture on “Beyond Sustainability – The Emerging Paradigms in Business Education,” a fitting topic hovering the course’s central theme.The Refresher Course will conclude on November 30, with Prof. Tejinder Sharma discussing “Spiritual Paradigms in Management Education” addressing innovative strategies for integrating values and advanced technologies in management.
This course is being attended by around 50 participants from different academic institutions across the country. This is a reflection of the University of Jammu’s dedication to advancing business education by offering professionals a platform for growth, collaboration, and engagement with emerging paradigms.
