JU Organises Webinar for PG English and M.Com Online Programme Aspirants

.

JAMMU, June 12: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, organised an informative webinar for prospective students interested in enrolling in the PG English Online and M.Com Online programmes offered by the Centre.

The webinar was aimed at familiarising participants with the structure, pedagogy, and academic framework of these online programmes, while also addressing a common area of confusion among prospective learners regarding the distinction between the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes of study.

During the session, counsellors explained the salient features of the OL programmes, highlighting that students enrolled under this mode are provided access to recorded video lectures, digital learning resources, and comprehensive study material. They informed participants that the programme includes a 14-day counselling schedule and follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), under which students are assessed continuously through Minor-I, Minor-II, and Major examinations.

Drawing a comparison with the ODL mode, the counsellors explained that it follows a non-CBCS framework, comprising 20 days of counselling sessions, followed by the submission of assignments and end-semester examinations. The structural and evaluative differences between the two modes were elaborated upon to enable students to make informed choices regarding their preferred mode of learning.

The session on the PG English Online programme was conducted by Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Assistant Professor of English, CDOE, along with Dr. Pragati Jasrotia and Dr. Himanshi Chandervanshi.

The session on the M.Com Online programme was conducted by Dr. Deepti Abrol and Dr. Avantika Malik, who provided detailed information regarding the programme curriculum, assessment pattern, and academic support system.

The webinar witnessed an encouraging response from prospective students, who actively interacted with the resource persons and sought clarifications on programme structure, examination patterns, admission-related queries, and counselling schedules.

The Centre reiterated its commitment to providing accessible, flexible, and quality higher education through its distance and online learning initiatives, thereby expanding educational opportunities for learners across diverse backgrounds.
