Intellectual Talk on Positivism and Mental Health held at University of Jammu

The Centre for Distance and Online Learning (CDOE), University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) Jammu & Kashmir Chapter and Kalra College of Education, Kud (Patnitop), organized an insightful talk on “Positivism and Mental Health” at the  committee hall of CDOE. Prof. Nilima Bhagwati, International Secretary General, Gauhati University, Assam, was the keynote speaker.

7293In her address, Prof. Bhagwati highlighted the importance of positivism as a key approach to promoting mental well-being and sustainability. She emphasized how maintaining a positive mindset plays a crucial role in promoting both physical and mental health, particularly in today’s increasingly competitive world. Prof. Bhagwati expressed concern over the growing risk of mental health issues among young people, from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood, noting that academic, work, and career pressures have intensified these challenges.

She also stressed the need for timely and appropriate guidance to help individuals cope with academic stress, examination pressures, and career uncertainties. Furthermore, Prof. Bhagwati underscored how increasing competition and negative emotions are having a detrimental impact on the mental health of younger generations worldwide, urging for a balanced focus on positivity alongside mental and physical health.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Jaspal Singh, Chairperson of CTEF J&K and faculty member at CDOE, JU, who outlined the significance of the talk. Other prominent attendees included Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Principal of Kalra College of Education (Kud), Dr. Inderjeet, Principal of Shere Kashmir College of Education, Jammu, and faculty members from Kalra College of Education, Chenab College of Education, and other affiliated institutions.

Students from the Centre for Distance and Online Learning,  Department of Education, Kalra College of Education, and others  affiliated colleges, actively participated in the event.

The program proceedings were ably conducted by Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Professor at Govt. College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu.
