DSRS, JU organise induction programme for newly admitted students in M.A. Defence and Strategic Studies

The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu, today organized an induction programme for the third batch of postgraduate students enrolled in the master degree programme in Defence and Strategic. On the occasion, the Director of DSRS, Prof. Virender Koundal, formally welcomed the students and provided an overview of the history and objectives of the department and also explained the scope and opportunities of the MA program to the students. Prof. Koundal encouraged the students to participate in academic, cultural, and sports activities and advised them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the University of Jammu for their career growth.

Monir Alam, Dr. Suneel Kumar, Dr. Surinder Mohan, Dr. Ganesh Malhotra, and Dr. Ranjan Sharma, also shared their insights with the students. Faculty members shared this vision and mission of the course. They emphasized that the purpose of this course is to continually and consistently transform students, both in their attitudes and behaviors, to prepare them for potential careers in academia, civil services, defense, and related fields, academic (civil and defence) collaborations for conducting research and aiming to get placed in security related organization/industry such as defence journalism, armed forces, think tanks and the like.

The DSRS launched the MA program in Defence and Strategic Studies during the 2022-23 academic session. The latest admission process was conducted through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) system, under which 20 students enrolled in the program.
