The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, in collaboration with NSS Unit-IV, organized an International Yoga Day event at the Gymnasium Hall. The event attracted students, faculty, and staff, all coming together to honor the ancient practice of yoga.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Komal Nagar, In-Charge Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education. She warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, other invited guests, and participants, highlighting the significance of celebrating International Yoga Day. Sh. Sanjeev Kumar, conducted the Yoga session by engaging participants in various asanas, kriyas, and pranayama techniques.
During the event, Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the vital role of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He stressed that yoga should be practiced daily, not just on special occasions. "Yoga is not just for fitness. It is a way for our soul to interact with the divine," remarked Prof. Rai. "Incorporating yoga into our daily routine can significantly enhance our overall well-being and quality of life," he added.
Prof. Rai also praised Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, and his team for their efforts. He expressed his desire to participate in future events focused on the well-being of students and society.
Students from the Yoga Centre showcased advanced yoga sessions, demonstrating their skill and dedication.
