University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus (JU) organized an Induction cum Motivational lecture (7th in the series) under Expert Lecture series on the topic “Personality Development”. The lecture was organized on the second day of one week long plantation drive. The resource person was Mr. Ajay Sharma, Chartered Accountant, Kathua.
On the second day of the Week-long drive, the campus came alive with the creation of a breathtaking vertical garden. During the groundbreaking initiative, the students of UIET participated in greenery expansion and artistic expression by organising stone painting and waste material reuse activities. The innovation and creativity displayed in designing this living work of art was a demonstration of UIET's dedication to pushing the boundaries of sustainability.
Mr. Sharma emphasized about the significance of self-awareness and self-reflection. He engaged the audience with interactive exercises and thought-provoking anecdotes and guided them towards gaining deeper insights into their own motivations, strengths, and weaknesses. He further discussed about the key components of personality including traits, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours. He also explained the interplay between genetic factors and environmental influences in shaping an individual's unique character. Further, he underscored the importance of active listening, sympathy, empathy, and compassion in forging meaningful connections and enriching personal and social interactions.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus (JU) said that everyone should overcome limiting beliefs and embrace the changes coming in daily life. She also added that one should learn the strategies to foster a growth mindset and harness their potential for continuous learning and self-improvement. Dr. Kilam further stressed that as the one-week plantation drive continues to unfold, Kathua Campus (JU) remains committed to nurturing a culture of environmental consciousness. She further said that by incorporating nature into the heart of the campus, UIET sets an example for other educational institutions and communities.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus (JU) introduced and appreciated the resource person. He said that UIET's initiative to create a vertical garden serves as a reminder that small actions can lead to monumental change.
