Department of Home Science, University of Jammu, as part of their outreach activity and practical programme organized a visit to SMVD Gurukul, Katra to let the M.Sc. students learn about the management of this highly successful and professionally run educational institute, which is imparting free educational and residential facilities to its students. These students mostly belong to all sections of the society and come from different parts of the country where they are provided all modern education and traditional vedic values of learning and their holistic development takes place. The group of M.Sc. students was led by Prof. Shashi Manhas, from Department of Home Science (Human Development), who thanked the SMVD Shrine Board Katra and Gurukul management for facilitating the visit. The students were highly appreciative of the way the Gurukul is being run by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the management of Gurukul school. Dr. Jagdish Chander, Joint Chief Executive Officer, arranged the entire programme which included visit to Spiritual Growth Centre visit, show casing of all facilities of SGC and Sh. Susheel Bharti, Dy. Manager explained the way the school is run by Gurukul Mangement and also showed the film against Drug Abuse, made by the students, which has been sent to an international short film festival, an internationally acclaimed event. Dr. Devender Rijal, Vice Principal of Gurukul showed the entire infrastructure of the school including the rich library and under their guidance, the students made a spiritual presentation and their abilities in singing and community service. The students of Home Science Department and Prof. Shashi Manhas thanked SMVD Shrine Board and Gurukul Management as it was lifetime experience for them to interact with students and management of Gurukul.
