Syndicate Meeting endorses Rs 30,000 as a publication grant & Rs. 50,000 for organizing programs for faculty

Environmental Science as a Core subject in the UG Courses; Establishment of the Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Skill Development Centre: M.A. (Punjabi) & Diploma Course in Gyani in the DDE,  Ph.D Programme in Physical Education is in the offing –JUVC

The 118th meeting of the Syndicate of the University of Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu during which various academic and administrative matters were discussed. In his opening remarks, Prof Umesh Rai extended a warm welcome to Sh Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department. UTJ&K, Sh Shadi Lal Pandita, Director General Codes, Finance Department, J&K, Sh Abdul Majid Butt, Director (Finance), Higher Education Department  & other members of the Syndicate for their wholehearted support to University of Jammu. While deliberating on the broad contours of the National Education Policy (NEP-20), Prof Umesh Rai underlined that the basic idea of NEP is to dissolve boundaries between different disciplines and evolve education. University is committed to implement NEP-20 and in that direction, University Academic Council has adopted guidelines for pursuing two academic programmes simultaneously and same was endorsed by the University Syndicate. In order to achieve institutional excellence, Vice-Chancellor said that the various administrative, research and innovative initiatives have been taken by the University. Vice-Chancellor also expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor, Universities -Shri Manoj Kumar Sinha for his vision and it is because of his guidance and directions, University of Jammu is achieving greater heights. Prof Rai said that Tsetan Dolma and Rigzin Lhamo with an outstanding track record were pursuing Masters in Physical Education (MPEd) from the University of Jammu. But unfortunately, both lost their lives in a tragic accident. They had represented University at the national level in ice hockey and football respectively. The item of creation of the “Tsetan & Rigzin Best Athlete Award.” for one male & one female best athlete of the University of Jammu in memory of two ace athletes was placed before the Syndicate and all the members unanimously endorsed the award. The Syndicate endorsed the introduction of Environmental Science as a Core subject in Under Graduate Courses.  Syndicate endorsed the introduction of Ph.D Programme in Physical Education in the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu from the Academic Session 2022-23. The members of the syndicate endorsed the introduction of an M.A. (Punjabi) & Diploma Course in Gyani in the Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu.  E-Waste Policy-2022 of the University of Jammu were endorsed by the members of the Syndicate. The Syndicate also endorsed the recommendation of the duly constituted committee for formulation of the qualifications and other eligibility conditions for the post of Assistant Professor in BBA-HM, BBA-HM (Chef) and MBA-HT in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu. Syndicate endorsed amendments/addition in the Regulations governing the University of Jammu Research Fund and that includes financial support of Rs 30,000/- (maximum) for the publication of Research paper and partial assistance upto Rs. 50,000/- per annum for the organization of Conference/Workshop/Seminar by Departments. University Syndicate endorsed charging of one-time Alumni Fee from students taking admission in the First Semester of various courses in the University and its affiliated colleges. The Constitution and Setting up of the ‘Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board’ in the Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu was endorsed by the members of the Syndicate. University Syndicate endorsed the establishment of the Incubation Innovation Entrepreneurship Skill Development Centre (IIESDC) with the Verticals i.e Entrepreneurship Development, Skill Development and Career Planning, Business Incubation and Innovation (BII), Industrial -Academia Partnership. Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu presented 88 items in the meeting. Giving nod to the various agenda items, Syndicate also confirmed the minutes of the 117th meeting of the University Syndicate.
