Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu today organized an online workshop on ‘Problem Solving and Ideation’ in collaboration with University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET)attended by more than 70 participants from various Colleges and Universities. The workshop was organized under the patronage of Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. While addressing the participants, Professor Dhar appreciated the efforts of the IIC team for organizing these types of activities which promote and motivate the students for innovation, startups and entrepreneurship. He apprised that IIC at University of Jammu was established in the academic year 2018-2019 and has remained the top scoring Institution with4-starrating during2020-21 session. Further, he stressed that organizing such activities through virtual mode is the need of the hour and motivated the students to maximize their learning skills and develop attitude for innovations to solve real world problems. Professor Susheel Kumar Sharma, President IIC and Coordinator, UIET, University of Jammu expressed his gratitude towards Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for inspiring the IIC team and participants of the workshop. He also thanked the resource person for his great endeavours in providing awareness to the students. He also lauded the efforts of the members of IIC, University of Jammu and UIET faculty for organizing the workshop. Further, he assured that more such activities would be undertaken in near future to promote innovation in the University Campus and to consolidate the collaboration between Academia and Industry.Dr. Ashok Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu was the resource person. During the course of workshop, Dr. Sharma stressed upon the need of critical thinking in solving real life problems and discussed in detail the various tools that students should learn besides their regular academics to enrich their profile. He talked in detail regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence to solve problems related to Climate Change, Disaster Management, Healthcare etc. He also talked about developing innovative ideas which can earn patents and change one’s life. Further, he encouraged the students to bring forward innovative ideas, design mobile apps, websites and register patents. He quoted a number of examples of people who have innovative minds and how they build from the scratch and made a mark in the society. The program was conducted by Dr Sourabh Shastri, Start-up activity coordinator, IIC JU. Er. Rakshit Khajuria, NIFR Coordinator, IIC coordinated the entire activity besides providing technical support. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rockey Gupta, Convener and ARIIA Coordinator, IIC.All members of IIC, University of Jammu and faculty members of UIET were present during the workshop.
