To acquaint the newly inducted students with the academic culture and curriculum of the institution, University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized a virtual Induction Programme for the first semester students of B.Tech. Civil & Computer Science Engineering, session 2021-22. Dr Meenakshi Kilam, the Chief Guest of the function appreciated the efforts of the Coordinator and faculty members of UIET for successfully conducting the induction progamme. She explained to  the students that professionalism and discipline are  required for success in academics and career building. She also appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and insightful interactions with the expert in the induction programme. She also ensured all possible help in raising the standard of UIET and to make it one of the best technical institutions in the country.The invited speaker, Dr. Vinit Jakhetiya from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Jammu, enlightened the students with his knowledge as well as experience and had a great interactive session with the students. He emphasized that students should have deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and suggested to adapt the spirit of team work for intricate knowledge. He underscored the need of enhancing technical skills by joining internships and to acquire more practical knowledge apart from theoretical knowledge. He made the students aware of the current demands of the industry and other job prospects. Several doubts and queries related to different aspects of engineering were raised by the students during the interactive session which were amicably answered by the expert. A brief presentation about UIET and its curriculum was made by Er. Navdeep Singh, faculty of Mechanical Engineering in order to familiarize the students with the academic environment of the UIET. The students of the UIET introduced themselves and shared their experiences of online study.Earlier, Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma, Coordinator,UIET, in his welcome address  emphasized the importance of core values like dedication and discipline among the students. He also stressed the importance of transcending the knowledge of engineering into application for the betterment of the society. He appealed the students to utilize the available resources to the best of their capacity for enhancing their academic profile. He further emphasized that students should also participate in extracurricular activities along with study for overall development of personality. He ensured the students that UIET would leave no stone unturned for raising the academic standard of the students besides enhancing their technical skills. The programme was conducted by Dr. Shivani Sharma and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Dilpreet Kour. The entire faculty of the UIET was present throughout the Induction Program.
