The NSS unit of DDE, University of Jammu celebrated National Girl Child Day, under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, with full enthusiasm. Entries for the celebration in virtual mode were invited for seven days. The volunteers participated actively in a variety of items. It included speaking about the importance of this day and the need for awakening the society, in particular the parents regarding the consequences of female foeticide, resulting from sex selective abortion. Various posters of girl child were made, in which it was depicted very clearly that the girls should be given equal opportunities to grow and progress .Similar enthusiasm could be seen among those who contributed to slogan writing, poem recitation, selfie with mother, father, sister, daughter etc. Manpreet Singh, NSS volunteer, DDE was the student coordinator of the event, as he received the entries and did the compilation work of all the activities. The event was held under the overall supervision of Prof. Neeru Sharma, Convenor NSS Campus units, University of Jammu and Prof. Anju Thappa, Programme Coordinator, NSS campus units, University of Jammu.
