The five days "National Art Workshop" oganised by IMFA, University of Jammu was today inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar in presence of world renowned critic, researcher & poet Dr. Taqi Abid from Canada. Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA, other faculty members, students & civil society members were also present on the occasion.
Speaking during the inauguration function, Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar lauded the efforts of IMFA for promoting music & fine arts. He said that from the last many months, IMFA is organising activities not only in the campus but outside Jammu District. Recently, two Kathak Dance workshops were organised by IMFA in Rajouri & Reasi District. The real goal of IMFA is to spread love & brotherhood among the masses through the medium of art & music. IMFA is a premier institute of University of Jammu which provides all possible help for promoting art & culture. Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar further said under the leadership of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, IMFA is making substantial progress.
On this occasion, a thought provoking lecture was also delivered by Dr. Taqi Abid on the topic " Relationship of Urdu with Music". He said that music is incomplete without urdu. Sighting some examples of urdu songs of Indian films Dr. Taqi Abid said that these songs would not have been popular if the musicians had not played a vital role in the song. He said that urdu ghazals, music & urdu goes side by side. The Kawalis in Urdu get too popularized because of music.
The thought provoking lecture by Dr. Taqi Abid was highly appreciated by the audience. Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik discussed various projects undertaken by IMFA in the past. He informed that director, poet & film maker Gulzar is participating as Chief Guest in the annual function of IMFA.
Besides, " Sham-e-Ghazal" is also being organised on the occasion of Annual Day of IMFA in the month of March 2022. The whole program was co-ordinated by Dr. Milan Sharma, HOD Painting. The students of Kashmir university, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi, Kurukshetra university & Banaras Hindu University participated in a five day long painting workshop.
