Students of the Department of Sociology, JU celebrate Teacher’s Day with spirit and appreciation

The students of the Department of sociology, University of Jammu celebrated Teacher’s Day on 4th September 2024, an occasion dedicated to honouring the invaluable contributions of educators in shaping the future of students. Teacher’s Day is held annually on September 5th in India to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a revered philosopher and educator who was the second President of India. The students took this opportunity to express gratitude towards the teachers who inspire, guide, and support them throughout their academic journey. They presented mementoes to teachers and non-teaching staff as their token of appreciation and respect. The celebrations featured a range of performances designed to express gratitude and admiration for the faculty members including poetry, dance, singing and engagement in heartfelt exchanges and reflections. Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head Department of Sociology, expressed her thoughts on the role of a teacher in a student’s life, remembering the contributions of her teachers in shaping her life. She shared with the students the importance of extracting the best out of every teacher and valuing one’s abilities to excel in life. On behalf of the entire faculty and department, she expressed gratitude and pride for the remarkable students who through their kind efforts and energy made this celebration memorable. Students of the third semester including Akashdeep and Arun along with Nandika from the first semester moderated and conducted the entire programme.
