On January 26, 2023, the University of Jammu's Reasi Campus commemorated the 75th Republic Day of India with great enthusiasm and zeal. All the staff members, students, and representatives of the civic society have attended the event. The national anthem was played after unfurl of the national flag before to kick off the festivities. Prof. Sushil K. Pandey, Director of the Reasi Campus was the chief guest of the republic day celebrations. Prof. Pandey began his address by welcoming and congratulating everyone on marking India's 75th Republic Day. He elaborated on the fundamental tenet of the constitution—"We are Indians, first and lastly"—in his speech, which was a novel idea that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar while he was framing the document of constitution of India. He also highlighted the enormous sacrifices made in 1947 by valiant liberation fighters to win their country's independence from British tyranny. He asked everyone to remember their constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights while carrying out their basic responsibilities as outlined in the document. Simultaneously, he has expounded about the salient characteristics of the Indian constitution, which accorded equal rights to each and every national. He further said that India is amazing country with different language, cultures, cloths, foods and festivals and is like a beautiful garden with many different flowers wherein each one of citizen is like an unique flower in this garden. Therefore, as a responsible citizen it is our duty to contribute nation’s progress and follows the rules in the constitution to make sure everyone is treated equally and with kindness. On this occasion, the faculty members and students have put together a cultural programme that includes talks, poetry, skit, patriotic dances and songs. Refreshments and sweets were distributed after the cultural programme. Prof. Pandey has complimented to all staff members and students for their active and enthusiastic participation and also thanked everyone especially to Dr. Nisha Sharma, Mr. Manoj Kumar, Mr. Pankaj, Dr. Ravi Kumar, Babloo Salaria and Sandeep Sharma for their tireless efforts in organizing the event successfully.
