Industrial Visit to M/s Shalimar Floorings (SIDCO) for the students of MBA(IB)

ICccR and HRM, University of Jammu, organized an Industrial Visit to M/s Shalimar Floorings Pvt. Ltd, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana on 22nd, December, 2023 (Friday). The visit was organized for the students of MBA (IB) Semester 1st and 3rd, as part of their course curriculum, with the objective to provide students an insight regarding internal working of industry and practical learning in a real-working environment.

The production team at Shalimar Floorings gave a brief presentation about the plant that include whole process in making mats, carpets and rugs which involved cutting, trimming, fabricating and packing. They further explained the process of procuring raw material, shipping and exporting of these products. After visiting the factory, the company gave the students the privilege to visit their retail showroom, which showcased the entire product line of the firm, giving them an insight of the retail sector, as well.

The students got an opportunity to interact with the engineers and technical staff and learnt about various functional areas of management like import-export processes, manufacturing, quality control, supply chain, logistics and other major operations of the company. 

Director, ICccR and HRM, Prof. Hardeep Chahal, thanked Mr. Rakesh Bhat, Director, Shalimar Floorings, for providing our students this opportunity, that will connect our management students with floor-level learnings and better management of resources.

Dr. Shivani Rana and Dr. Swati Sharma, Faculty at ICccR and HRM, and course coordinators, accompanied the students, and coordinated the visit.
