Udhampur Campus, Garnai Lotta, University of Jammu organized an awareness rally to mark the World AIDS day with the theme "Let the community lead". The rally started from the Udhampur campus and marched towards the crowded Street of the village Garnai Lotta. The student of B.Com, M.A. Economics and M.Com of Udhampur campus participated in the rally. The rally passed through the local street of Garnai lotta and reached the Govt. Middle school where the PG students of Udhampur campus spread the awareness. Then the students of the campus and Govt. middle school Garnai Lotta, marched towards the Govt. High school Garnai Ladhyala. Later, in the Govt. High school, Mr. Surfiaz Ali, MS Mehak Gupta, Mr. Bikram Singh, MS Sumiya, MS Janvi, Mr. Karanveer, MS Tani students of Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu, addressed the gathering in the school about the Awareness on AIDS remains paramount in our global pursuit to combat the HIV epidemic. As a critical public health issue, understanding and disseminating information about AIDS is fundamental to prevention, destigmatization, and support for those affected. Heightened awareness facilitates early detection through testing, encourages responsible behavior, and fosters empathy towards individuals living with HIV/AIDS. By promoting accurate knowledge and dispelling misconceptions, we pave the way for a more informed and compassionate society, ultimately contributing to the goal of eradicating the stigma surrounding AIDS and working towards a world free from new HIV infections.
Later, in his virtual address to the gathering Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Rector Udhampur campus, University of Jammu emphasized on the relevance of awareness among the locals. He said, "World AIDS day provides an opportunity for schools to contribute to the global effort in combating HIV/AIDS. By fostering awareness, understanding, and empathy, schools play a vital role in creating a future generation that is knowledgeable, compassionate, and actively engaged in promoting public health." Dr. Shilpa Gupta, Coordinated the event and Mr. Nikhil Khajuria hosted the event in the presence of all the faculty members of Udhampur Campus and the faculty members of Govt. High school Garnai Ladhyala.
