In a remarkable triumph, the newly established Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Jammu clinched the title of ‘Best Team’ in the debate competition of prestigious Display Your Talent 2022-2023 (DYT), held at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium of the University of Jammu.
The dynamic duo, Idrees Falahi and Suhail Bashir, both 3rd semester students, represented the department with exemplary skills, securing top position in the debate contest.
Dr. Garima Gupta, the head of the department, expressed her elation over this outstanding achievement and said that despite being just two years old, the department has already marked its presence on the academic stage.
“The efforts of both the students are worth commendable, as it will motivate and inspire other students to continue to excel in making their Department, University and Nation proud,” said Dr. Garima Gupta, adding that this achievement reflects department’s commitment to nurture eloquence, critical thinking and effective communication skills among students.
She maintained that this success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students as well as faculty under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof Umesh Rai.
Sharing views, Idrees Falahi said that he dedicates this achievement to the entire department.
“This is not just our achievement, but the achievement of the entire department. Without the unwavering support of our head and other faculty members, this would not have been possible,” said Idrees, adding that support of classmates before, during and after the competition also motivated them to perform better.
Suhail Bashir said that threadbare discussion with teachers and students helped them to derive best opinions on the specific theme of the contest.
“I believe the confidence instilled by our head and teachers helped us to achieve this particular feat,” he said and expressed his gratitude towards the department for grooming young minds and tapping the best potential of the students.
