The SIIEDC University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, successfully hosted a two-day workshop under the e-yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI). The workshop, held on November 24th and 25th, 2023, aimed to establish e-Yantra labs in ten colleges across the Union Territory, along with three labs within the University of Jammu. The event was conducted under the Convener Ship of Prof. Alka Sharma, the director of SIIEDC. Dr. Sandeep Arya, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, played a pivotal role as the coordinator for the event.
A total of sixty participants actively engaged in the workshop, representing faculty members from esteemed institutions such as the University of Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University, and Cluster University of Jammu. Additionally, faculty members from various colleges in the Jammu division contributed to the collaborative and enriching atmosphere of the workshop.
Commencing with a warm welcome address from Dr. Sadaf Shah, Associate Director of SIIEDC, University of Jammu, on November 24th, the workshop featured insightful talks and engaging presentations by experts from IIT Bombay. These sessions enriched the learning experience, setting the stage for two days of exploration and knowledge-sharing.
The 2-Day workshop was strategically designed to provide an overview of e-Yantra, emphasizing its importance in the coming days. It included discussions on various models and modalities, with four modules spread over two days. Topics covered included the Introduction to Fire Bird V robot, AVR Microcontroller, and Programming environment. The workshop incorporated hands-on sessions, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities, aiming to equip participants with practical insights into the use and handling of robots. The ultimate goal is to initiate skill development programs in the University and various colleges of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The valedictory function on November 25th marked the conclusion of the workshop. Certificates of participation were distributed by Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology to the faculty members who actively contributed to the success of the event. Dr. Sadaf Shah expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants for their dedication and energy. Gratitude was extended to the resource persons from IIT Bombay for sharing their knowledge and expertise. Special acknowledgment was given to Dr. Sandeep Arya and his scholars for efficiently managing every facet of the workshop, ensuring seamless coordination and meticulous attention to detail.
