Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, released today the Newsletter of the Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu for the year 2019 till 2023, documenting all the activities undertaken by the Centre in these years in the presence of Prof. Vishav Raksha, Director, Centre for Women’s Studies and Chief Editor of the Newsletter and the members of Centre’s Affairs Committee namely Prof. Jasbir Singh, Head, Department of Philosophy and Former, Dean, Social Sciences, Prof. Baljeet Singh Mann, Head, Department of Political Science, Dr. Hema Gandotra, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology. Dr Ginny Dogra, Director DIQA, Dr. Saranjit Kaur and Ms. Kunzang Angmo faculty members, Centre for Women’s Studies and members of the editorial team of the Newsletter were also present. Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, congratulated and applauded the efforts of the Centre.
The activities of the Centre from 2019 to 2023 are compiled and documented in the Newsletter. The Centre engaged in a variety of activities like Seminars, Workshops, Lecture Series, Outreach, and Extension on various Gender-Related issues for the various target groups both inside and outside the university. Additionally, the Centre also worked together to carry out a variety of offline and online programs with the National Commission for Women and other Women's Studies Centres across India and local Colleges. The Centrs successfully organized a series of webinars and web-lectures during the Covid-19 Pandemic, even in the most difficult times. Nationally renowned resource persons were invited to these events. The Centre also started two optional courses under CBCS System for 4th Semester PG Students along with the two Certificate Courses which the Centre has been running successfully. Most importantly the Centre undertook series of Gender Sensitization Workshops for the on-campus scholars and students of University to generate awareness among them.
