‘Display Your Talent 2023’ commenced today at the University of Jammu which is an annual feature of the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. In this event students from the affiliated degree colleges and university departments will be participating in 27 different competitions viz music, dance, literary, fine-arts and theatrical activities. Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function and Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning, Prof. Rajiv Rattan Sharma, Director CDC, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director DDOL and other senior functionaries of the university also attended the programme which started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu warmly welcomed all the participants to this great platform which has provided inspiration to hundreds of its alumni. He stated that such programmes enable students to understand their inner spark which acts as guiding light in their life. He stated that such activities are not co-curricular or extra- curricular activities anymore but are an important part of the curriculum itself. He instructed to prepare a concrete plan so that there should be credit points for such activities. To ensure a larger participation of the students from far off places, Prof. Rai suggested that the Display Your Talent should be organized in a zone-wise format.
Prof. Anju Bhasin explained the objective of 'Display Your Talent,' which aims to unite the University community in a collaborative venture that honors creativity, talent, and innovative skills. She underscored the philosophy of establishing an inseparable connection between learning and expression.
Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, in his welcome address expressed gladness over the participation of the students from various regions. He wished good luck to the participants for the successful completion of this mega event.
Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee apprised the audience about the brief history of ‘Display Your Talent’ and Prof. Sarika Manhas Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee presented the vote of thanks.
On the occasion, Prof. Vishav Raksha (Former Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee) and Prof. Sanjana kaul (Former Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. B.K Bajaj (Former Associate Dean SW) Dr. Anil Gupta (Former Associate Dean SW) were felicitated for their remarkable and successful tenure as important functionaries of DSW.
The event of Group Song Indian was conducted on the first day of Display Your Talent.
The First position was secured by the team of GCW, Udhampur. GCW Parade stood Second and the team of Institute of Music and Fine Arts secured Third position. Prof. Harvinder Singh, Dr. Kuldeep Raina and Ms. Sonali Dogra were the adjudicators and Dr. Inderjeet Singh was the Teacher In-Charge of the event.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Garima Gupta (Assistant Dean, SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma & Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Ms Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer). The events were witnessed by the members of Campus Cultural Committee, teachers, students, scholars of the University of Jammu and prominent members of the civil society.

On 17thth November, the events of Light Vocal Solo, Classical Vocal Solo & Classical Instrumental would be conducted at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, 10am onwards.
