The Photography Club of JU organises a two-day workshop with Canon India.

In a bid to cultivate creativity and skill development among students, the Photography Club, UTSAAH,The University of Jammu, in association with Canon India, today organised two days of photography.

Workshop, wherein Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai specially interacted with the participants.Talking to the participants, Prof. Umesh Rai emphatically encouraged and insisted on the studentsactively engage in such workshops.Stressing the value of practical learning and skill enrichment, the Vice Chancellor highlightedthe importance of such workshops in fostering holistic development and honing students' abilitiesbeyond the confines of the academic curriculum.

This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering creativity and skill development.among our students," Prof. Umesh Rai said.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairman of UTSAAH, who was the chief guest, said that underUnder the guidance of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, 12 different clubs have been introduced to chisel and refine the talent of students.Usually, students get stuck with academics, finding little or no time or platform to exhibit their talents," said Prof. Satnam Kour, adding that these clubs were introduced with the intention of providingsuch platforms for talented students.

Earlier, Dr. Pritam Singh, Coordinator of the Photography Club, welcomed all the participants and briefedabout the purpose and objectives of the workshop.

During this two-day workshop, students will be taught theoretical aspects of photography.followed by hands-on training," he said.

Underscoring the significance of participating in these workshops, Dr. Pritam stated that theseWorkshops not only complement theoretical knowledge but also provide invaluable real-worldexposure, enabling students to acquire practical skills that are vital for their personal andprofessional growth. Virendra Singh, photography mentor at Canon India, shared his extensive knowledge andexperience, offering insights into various photography techniques, equipment usage, and the latesttrends in the industry.Participants were engaged in hands-on sessions where they learned to capture compelling images.and were given guidance on refining their photographic skills.

Students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Psychology, Punjabi,The Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) and other departments of the university participated in the workshop. 

Others present included Rakesh Sharma, Head IMFA; Dr. Amarjit Singh, Faculty IMFA; and Dr. Pardeep.Singh and Dr. Ravia Gupta from the Department of Journalism and Mass CommunicationRamandeep is a technical specialist for Canon India.
