The P.G. Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, organised an extension lecture in collaboration with the Institute of Company Secretary of India on the theme “Legal Aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility on November 6, 2023, for the students of M.Com. I and M.Com. III semesters.The lecture commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Harleen Kaur, the coordinator of the event, where she welcomed the worthy guest speakers, CS Nitin Gupta and CS Neha.
Mr. Nitin shared his insights and perspectives on the importance of corporate social responsibility in the present scenario. The discussion highlighted the role and responsibilities of the corporate social responsibility committee, directors, and CEOs in filing the CSR. He also familiarised the students with the eligibility criteria for the obligation of CSR under the Companies Act 2013 and discussed the audit procedures and government penalties for non-filing of CSR. Further, he familiarised the students with the guidelines issued by SEBI regarding CSR. Later, a formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Amanjot Kour Wazir, a student of M.Com. Among those present during the event were Prof. Gurjeet Kaur, Dr. Tarsem Lal, Dr. Rupa Mahajan, Dr. Vishal Gupta, Dr. Sumeet Kour, and Dr. Deepti Abrol.
