The Phase II of the celebrations of the upcoming Foundation Day of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, themed “Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir, Aman aur Taraqqi ki Nayi Tasweer,” was organised by “Utsaah,” the clubs, University of Jammu wherein a series of events were held as part of an Inter-University Tournament for the universities of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and the coveted overall trophy was bagged by the Cluster University of Jammu.
The University of Jammu was yet again pulsating with pursuit and excitement as the The Painting Club, The Literary Club, The Film Club, and The Photography Club under the coordinator-ship of Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Sadaf Shah, Prof. Suman Jamwal, and Dr. Pritam Singh, respectively, under the aegis of “Utsaah,” organised multifarious activities simultaneously in different venues of the university, for the winners of the Phase I of the inter-university tournament, particularly, painting, videography & photography, essay writing, and film making competitions.
Dr. Satnam Kour Raina, Professor in the Department of English, Chairperson, “Utsaah,” the Clubs, and Head, Department of Psychology was the host for the occasion. While offering the official welcome address at the Valedictory Ceremony she apprised the audience about the details of the Intra-University Tournament and extended her gratitude towards the adjudicators for the series of events held throughout the day. She stressed on the importance of encouraging the young and talented youth, and the implicit need and usefulness of organising such activities for the same. She applauded the young and upcoming talent of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and expressed her wish to see them further develop their skills and talent.
The Chief Guest for the Valedictory Ceremony was Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean, Department of Planning & Development, and formerly Head, Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu. Recognising the zeal of the the young participants she congratulated them for their passion and drive. She praised the coordination and agility amongst the clubs of “Utsaah” in curating such a grand and successful event in a short span of time and extended her support in the capacity of the Dean, Planning & Development in making the required infrastructure available for future endeavours in this direction.
Amongst the participants who excelled in various activities and secured the first, second, third positions were Jhanvi, Preeti Manhas, & Sknda Sharma in the field of Painting, and Riya Choudhary, Maithili Manhas, and Alvin Singh in Essay Writing Competition. While in the field of Photography the first three coveted positions were procured by Lovleen Kour, Umar Farooq, and Mohammad Kamil respectively, in Film Making those who obtained the prizes were Himanshi Sharma, Vansh, and Kaisar Ali.
The adjudicators for the gamut of events were renowned personalities including, Ms. Suman Gupta, Mr. Rajinder Tikoo, Ms. Richa Gupta, Mr. Dharmendra Kohli. Mr. Rajesh Khajuria, Mr. Pankaj Khajuria, and Dr. Ravinder Singh. And the event was graced by the presence of Prof. Savita Jamwal, Dr. Madhulika Singh, Dr. Neena Gupta Vij, and Dr. Asif Shah.
The programme culminated with the official vote of thanks which was presented by Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club and Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Jammu where she thanked each and everyone for making this event a huge success. The overall organization of the tournament was undertaken by Mr. Rakesh Sharma (Coordinator, The Painting Club), Dr. Sadaf Shah (Coordinator, The Literary Club), Prof. Suman Jamwal (Coordinator, The Film Club), Dr. Pritam Singh (The Photography Club), Mr. Amarjeet Singh, Mr. Shubh Kumar, and the members of the clubs of “Utsaah.”
