The Office of Provost Girls’ Hostel University of Jammu organized a Lohri Festival marking the harvest festival and the advent of New Year in the Girls’ Hostel Premises on 17th Jan 2023. Hundreds of Boarders from all four Girls' Hostels participated in the programme as such sort of function was organized for the first time in the University of Jammu. The Provost Girls’ Hostel, Prof. Shashi Manhas addressed all the girls’ hostel boarders and staff during the event emphasizing the meaning of the Lohri festival and how these festivities and celebrations bring all of them together, help them learn about each other’s culture, bring everyone closer and how celebrations de-stress students. She said that the University of Jammu and Girls Hostels have tried to celebrate and highlight the importance of some festivals which have a local flavour and help in fostering the spirit of oneness of the country. The Wardens of all girls Hostels,Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, and Mrs. Meenakshi while interacting with the boarders encouraged them to share about their various cultural and local festivals with other fellow boarders and invited them to take part in these celebrations wholeheartedly. The Girls’ Hostel Premises witnessed a new warm festive look and Girl’s Hostel Boarders enjoyed and enthusiastically took part in the celebration. All the Resident Wardens of Girls’ Hostel Dr. Skarma , Dr. Samriti, Dr. Radhika along with Shehnaz Akhter, Office incharge Provost Office along with office staff of Girls Hostels, Seema Sharma and Rupinder Kour were also present, along with all other employees of Provost Office and hostels staff. The boarders and staff thanked the office of the Provost and Wardens for organizing such an event on campus which they were missing as they are away from their residence.
