Introduction

University of Jammu with the aim to expand its dimensions and to take higher education to the doorsteps of the disadvantaged and hitherto excluded section of the society living in the remote areas of the state established offsite campuses at various places like Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Kathua, Ramnagar, Kishtwar and Poonch.

Udhampur Campus is one of the old campuses of the University of Jammu which came into existence on 14th September 2007 under the Prime Minister's special package to the University of Jammu. The campus initially started with rented accommodation at Nehru Memorial Hr. Sec. School and later at Happy Model Hr. Sec. School. An area of 1.97 acres has been procured for the construction of the campus and in January 2013 campus shifted to its own land in Garnai Lotta, Udhampur wherein 3 pre-fabricated huts have been erected for classrooms, a faculty room, a library, a computer lab, and Rector's office. Later on in the year 2023, both academic and administrative work shifted to newly constructed campus building. The academic programmes offered on the campus are B.Com, M.A Economics, and M.Com.
