Expressing his delight and pride over the groundbreaking achievement of Chandrayaan-3, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Umesh Rai Wednesday said that it is a historic day, as India has etched its name in the history by becoming the first nation to reach the southern pole of the moon.  As per official communication, Prof Umesh Rai extended his warmest congratulations to ISRO, with a special mention for the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, whose steadfast leadership played a pivotal role in this milestone. Prof. Rai also lauded the entire team behind this achievement. Vice Chancellor also emphasized the significance of this achievement in pushing the boundaries of exploration and knowledge, marking a new era for India's space endeavors.Furthermore, Prof. Rai highlighted the broader impact of the Chandrayaan-3 launch, as it paves the way for pioneering scientific discoveries and opens up new avenues for collaborative research on an international scale.  “This achievement will inspire the youth of the nation to pursue careers in science, technology, and space exploration, contributing to India's continued growth as a global leader in space exploration,” Prof Rai expressed. Chandrayaan-3, the subsequent mission following Chandrayaan-2, stands as a testament to India's technological prowess. The mission's objective is to showcase end-to-end capabilities in ensuring a secure lunar landing and rover exploration on the moon's surface. Comprising both Lander and Rover configurations, the mission was launched by LVM3 from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota.The Chandrayaan-3 mission holds immense potential in unraveling new discoveries and pushing the boundaries of human knowledge beyond our planet. Its primary objectives include demonstrating a safe and gentle landing on the lunar surface, exhibiting rover mobility on the moon's terrain, and conducting in-situ scientific experiments.“India's successful Chandrayaan-3 launch is not just a testament to the country's scientific and technological might, but also a beacon of hope for humanity's ceaseless quest for understanding the universe around us,” said Vice Chancellor, Prof Umesh Rai.

The Dean Research Studies, Professor Rajni Kant, while congratulating the team ISRO and the nation,  has said that  a small event will be organized for the students and researchers of Physics Department tomorrow to share with them the scintillating moments the country is going through at the moment. He also stated that as per the wishes of  Vice- Chancellor, efforts shall be made for the creation of  Chandrayan Photo Gallery consisting of all the three missions and  put the same  to display next week in the Physics Department so that all teachers, students, officers, non teaching staff members of the university and some people from the civil society could visit and see the achievements of the nation and ISRO scientists.
