The Department of Education, University of Jammu, celebrated Librarian’s Day with enthusiasm to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India.
Prof. Renu Nanda, Head and Dean, Department of Education, presided over the programme.
Ms. Anuradha Sharma, Assistant Librarian, Department of English, University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest.
The programme was conducted by Ms. Sonika Sharma, Librarian, Department of Education, under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Renu Nanda.
Faculty members, including Dr. S. K. Panda, Dr. Kajal Devi Manhas, Dr. Minakshi Choudhary, other faculty members, research scholars, and students attended the event.
Students presented a skit, book reviews, book portfolio/display, and poetry, highlighting the importance of books, reading, and libraries in the digital era.
The Chief Guest and the Head and Dean addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Department in promoting a culture of reading and meaningful use of library resources.
The celebration reaffirmed that libraries remain vital centres of knowledge, learning, and intellectual growth in the digital age.
