Udhampur Campus Organises Induction Programme for Newly Admitted Students

Udhampur, August 13, 2026:
Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu, organised an induction programme for newly admitted students of B.Com., M.Com. and M.A. Economics, with the objective of welcoming them to the campus and familiarising them with the academic, co-curricular and overall learning environment of the Campus. On the occasion, an impressive presentation showcasing the academic accomplishments, co-curricular participation and developmental activities of the Campus was delivered by Mr. Nikhil Khajuria, faculty member in the Department of Commerce.
Addressing the students, Rector, Udhampur Campus, Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, extended a warm welcome and congratulated them on beginning a new phase of their academic journey. Addressing the newly admitted students, Prof. Sharma said, “It is always a special feeling to see the youngest members of our Udhampur Campus arrive with fresh energy, curiosity and big dreams. It is a delight to be part of this new induction programme and to welcome you to this exciting academic journey. Your time here is not only about academic or professional success; it is also about discovering yourselves, building character and becoming responsible, well-rounded individuals.”
Acknowledging the presence of students coming from far-flung and remote areas, he appreciated their determination to pursue higher education despite various challenges. He urged the students to make the best use of the opportunities available at the Campus and to remain focused, disciplined and committed to their academic goals.
The students were encouraged to actively participate in academic as well as extracurricular activities, including seminars, workshops, cultural programmes, sports, debates, clubs and other campus initiatives. “As per the vision of our Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, higher education is not limited to classroom learning but also involves developing communication skills, leadership qualities, creativity, teamwork and social responsibility,” Prof. Sharma informed the students.
During the programme, students were also encouraged to share their feedback, suggestions and ideas regarding teaching-learning practices, campus facilities and student activities. The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to openly express their expectations and concerns. The Campus administration assured them that constructive suggestions would be considered for further improving the student experience.
The programme also highlighted the need for new and innovative ideas to make the Campus more vibrant and student-centric. Students were encouraged to propose new activities, academic initiatives, student clubs, entrepreneurship ideas, skill-development programmes and community-oriented projects.
The induction programme concluded with a message of encouragement to the newly admitted students to actively engage with the campus community, maintain academic excellence and contribute positively to the growth and development of Udhampur Campus.
