University of Jammu Conducts Scholarship Distribution Programme at Govt. Middle School, Kotli (Birpur)

Jammu, February 11: As part of its ongoing extension and outreach initiatives, the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, organised a scholarship distribution programme at Government Middle School, Kotli (Birpur).

Scholarships along with certificates of merit and appreciation were awarded to deserving and meritorious students of the school. Refreshments were also distributed among the students. The programme is a regular feature of the Department’s outreach activities aimed at encouraging students, particularly those belonging to remote areas and economically weaker sections, to pursue education with dedication and determination. The initiative reflects the Department’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusive educational development.

Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Head of the Department of Commerce, addressed the gathering and highlighted the transformative role of education in shaping the future of individuals and society. She motivated the students to remain focused on their academic goals, cultivate discipline and self-confidence, and strive for excellence despite challenges. Emphasizing the values of perseverance, integrity, and hard work, she encouraged students to rise above limitations and believe in their potential to achieve success. She further assured them that institutions of higher learning remain committed to supporting and guiding young learners in their academic journey.

Prof. Tarsem Lal, Coordinator of the programme, interacted with the students and faculty members of the school and stressed the importance of setting clear goals, maintaining consistency in efforts, and embracing lifelong learning. He reiterated that such outreach programmes aim to strengthen the linkage between higher education institutions and school-level education, thereby fostering academic motivation at the grassroots level.

The Head Mistress of the school, Ms. Meenakshi Gupta, expressed gratitude to the University of Jammu and the Department of Commerce for their thoughtful initiative and appreciated the Department’s continued efforts in recognising merit and inspiring students. Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Prof. Tarsem Lal, Dr. Rupa Mahajan, Ms. Meenakshi Gupta, Mr. Chander Mohan Bhagat, Ms. Monika Jamwal and other staff members of the school were present on the occasion. The programme concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the University of Jammu’s commitment to community engagement, educational upliftment, and societal development through meaningful outreach initiatives.
